Good morning, New York!

Today is President’s Day — officially Washington’s Birthday — a federal holiday that began as a tribute to the first president and gradually expanded into a broader recognition of the office itself. It marks an unusual political invention: a single executive elected, limited by law, and replaced through peaceful transfer of power. Today honors the enduring strength of the American experiment, its leaders, and democracy. And nowhere is that experiment more visible than in New York City. From Washington’s first inauguration at Federal Hall on Wall Street to the United Nations convening in Midtown, New York has long been a stage where leadership meets the world. Our city has shaped presidents, challenged them, funded them, protested them, and celebrated them. Happy President’s Day.
