Instead, local bars like the Bronx Beer Hall cashed in, reporting an impressive 85% to 100% surge in business on match days as fans flocked to watch parties.

New York City now bans companies from using deceptive subscriptions to trap customers into paying for gym memberships, streaming services and other recurring charges, the city’s consumer protection office said. The rule, which will start on 1 October, promises hefty fines and aggressive enforcement for violators.

NYC Secures New Rental Voucher Funds — A high-stakes budget negotiation has culminated in an agreement on a $125.8 billion city budget. This deal includes a critical allocation of an additional $175 million for rental assistance. This funding will create a new rental program designed to assist more New Yorkers facing the threat of eviction.

Bar Zoli, East Williamsburg – Zoli has opened a rooftop bar at Amant in East Williamsburg. The menu is casual and seafood-focused.

Mūje, NoMad – Jungsik Yim opened a more casual tasting menu restaurant in NoMad. The eight-course menu costs $150, with à la carte options at the bar.

Only Child, Bed-Stuy – A natural wine bar opened in Bed-Stuy. It is part of the city’s July wave of smaller, neighborhood-focused openings.

Grimm Tavern, Prospect Heights – Grimm Artisanal Ales has added a tavern concept in Prospect Heights.

Wild Sorrel Cookbooks, East Village – A curated cookbook shop has opened in the East Village.

Gotham FC Comes To Citi Field – Gotham FC faces the Washington Spirit on Wednesday at 8pm. The Queens Classic brings women’s soccer into a major baseball stadium.

Yankees Host Dodgers This Weekend – The Dodgers visit Yankee Stadium for a Friday through Sunday series. Friday’s first pitch is 7:05pm.

Mets Start A Phillies Road Series – The Mets open a road set in Philadelphia on Thursday. It is their first series after the All-Star break.
