A Walk-In Center for City Jobs Opens Next Week - Mayor Mamdani is opening a permanent Jobs NYC Center at 2 Lafayette Street in Lower Manhattan. Walk-in hours start Oct. 5, Monday through Thursday, 10am to 4pm. Staff will help people find openings, apply and understand the civil service process. The city has more than 14,000 vacant positions, and the children's services agency will hold hiring sessions there Oct. 5, 12 and 19.

Council Puts AI Bills on the Calendar - A Council-wide hearing is set for Oct. 5, just after this issue's week. Proposals include independent checks for AI systems sold or used in the city, rules on reporting safety incidents and new protections for whistleblowers.
